On The Ledger is a hands-on bookkeeping and payroll firm, but we see our role as being centered around something bigger: compliance. It's not only about organizing your finances or making sure you and your employees are paid on time. It's also about consistently completing the work that helps your business stay current with Department of Labor guidelines, federal and state payroll tax agencies, sales tax filings, and other routine reporting responsibilities.

Compliance doesn't happen through one big task. It comes from handling the day-to-day and month-to-month details accurately, regularly, and on time. That includes bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, compliance filings, catch-up work, and organized, tax-ready financials. We also offer customizable administrative support for occasional projects and operational needs that come up along the way.

There can be a lot of embarrassment around falling behind or not fully understanding the financial side of a business. On The Ledger was founded by Angela, whose background in human resources naturally overlapped with payroll and financial responsibilities. Over time, financial organization became her primary focus, but the foundation remained the same: organization, consistency, and compliance. That perspective continues to shape how we work today — with candid communication, a casual and collaborative approach, and the goal of becoming a dependable extension of each client's business.

Founder & Owner

Angela Preciado

Angela is the owner of On the Ledger, bringing 15 years of experience in human resources and 15 years in accounting and bookkeeping. The natural overlap between those areas shaped her strong focus on compliance and gave her a well-rounded understanding of how payroll, people, and financial operations work together.

Much of Angela's bookkeeping experience was built in construction and general contracting, where accuracy, detailed recordkeeping, and job costing are essential. That foundation has prepared her to work with clients across many industries — from massage therapists, hairstylists, and dentists to contractors, e-commerce companies, and retail businesses. She understands that money flows differently in every industry, so her approach is tailored to how each business operates.

Direct, approachable, and naturally detail-oriented, Angela believes good bookkeeping requires more than simply recording transactions. She takes the time to understand each client's business, understand the full picture, ask questions when necessary, and make sure important details aren't overlooked. An Arizona native, Angela and her husband spend most weekends watching her 15-year-old son on the baseball field and laughing at the ongoing shenanigans of their two dogs.

Karolina Ortiz-Sanchez

Karolina earned her degree in Public Accounting from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa in Mexico and has more than 17 years of experience working with small and mid-sized businesses, including over 13 years in accounting here in the United States. Her experience includes bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, financial record management, and QuickBooks Online. She enjoys keeping things accurate and organized and being someone business owners can count on.

Karolina is friendly, disciplined, and takes a lot of pride in doing her work well. She brings a positive attitude to the team, is always open to learning something new, and easily adjusts to the different needs of each business. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and values getting to know the people she works with. Whether she is helping a client or supporting the team, Karolina approaches everything with care, responsibility, and a genuine desire to do her best.
